About me

Yona Rasolonjatovo

Composer

Yona Rasolonjatovo is a composer drawn to narrative. Her works for orchestra, chamber ensemble, voice, and piano are shaped by that instinct: music that carries its own internal story, whatever the forces.

Artistic APPROACH

At the heart of Yona’s writing lies a strong interest in musical storytelling. Melody, harmony, and texture are used not only as compositional tools but as expressive forces that shape atmosphere, tension, and emotional arc.

Particular attention is given to orchestration and timbre, where the colour and weight of each instrument become part of the narrative. Whether writing for orchestra, chamber ensemble, or solo instrument, the aim is always to create music that feels alive in performance and compelling to interpret.

WHAT I AM WORKING ON

September 25th — an orchestral work tracing a nation’s story through seven movements, releasing June 2026.

Yona welcomes commissions for orchestra, chamber, voice, piano.

How a commission works

  1. We talk about what the piece needs — context, performers, deadline, budget.
  2. I compose, sharing drafts and staying in close contact throughout.
